IntroductionScientific and technical advances within the last two decades have transformed biomedical research. Especially whole genome sequencing, cloud computing and increasingly cheaper storage space as well as sophisticated machine learning algorithms enable the collection and processing of data on a larger scale. Hence, contemporary biomedical research depends on integrating large amounts of multivariate data, i.e., data that stems from various different sources.
