IntroductionThe life expectancy of the world population is increasing and more and more people are reaching high ages. This results in a shift of the health burden towards diseases appearing predominantly in higher ages. Hip fractures occur in old and very old people and the absolute number of fractures is therefore strongly affected by the observed demographic change.
