Introduction to the topicAssistive technology, including robots, has the potential to support caregiving for older adults in various ways, for example, by supporting nursing staff or providing mental and physical stimulation for residents of care facilities; however, it is important to consider the needs of care facilities, the residents and the extent to which currently available technology is able to provide support to develop accessible and acceptable systems.
