IntroductionIn the field of medically assisted reproduction (MAR), new treatments are continuously being developed to allow aspiring parents affected by infertility to have children. In vitro fertilisation (IVF), for example, is a technique discovered in the 1970s where the infertile woman’s oocyte is removed from her body and then fertilized in the laboratory with a male gamete (De Geyter 2012).
