Introduction: Malnutrition worsens the prognosis of severely ill hospitalized patients. In patients without intestinal obstruction who are unable to eat sufficiently, enteral nutrition through a nasogastric tube is indicated. Lao patients and hospitals have limited financial resources that preclude the use of commercially produced formula for tube feeding, leading to malnutrition in these patients.
