Background Previous studies, including a few systematic reviews, demonstrate insufficient evidence to give a definitive answer regarding the effectiveness of physiotherapeutic (PT) exercise interventions following total and unicompartmental knee arthroplasty(TKA/UKA) for osteoarthritis(OA). As a result, it has been recommended that, in addition to any intervention’s effectiveness, its therapeutic validity, defined as the potential effectiveness of a specific intervention given to a potential target group of patients, should explicitly be considered in respective future studies.
