Introduction Knee osteoarthritis often starts in the patellofemoral compartment and is diagnosed in about 39% of people with knee pain aged above 30 years. Nasal chondrocyte Tissue Engineered Cartilage (N-TEC) has been successfully introduced in phase I and II clinical studies for the treatment of focal cartilage lesions, and in a pilot group of patients with osteoarthritis.
