Introduction Hip and knee osteoarthritis are common degenerative joint diseases that can have a significant impact on quality of life, function and pain. According to current literature and guidelines, patient education plays an important role in the conservative treatment of patients and is effective in combination with other conservative interventions. However, there is no standardised description of the content, the didactics used and the methodological approach of patient education in the context of individual treatment.
