Introduction: For the drug-bug combinations reported by EARS-Net, antibiotic resistance rates in Germany appear to be lower than the European average, except for Enterococcus faecium (E. faecium) vancomycin [1]. Our aim was to compare resistance trends of E. faecium to vancomycin in different German and European surveillance systems and in all Bavarian health care settings and to investigate the development of the phenotypic ratio of vancomycin-resistant isolates to teicoplanin resistance in Bavaria.
