Introduction Loneliness and social isolation are risk factors for mental and physical disorders, including cardiovascular disease (CVD), which is the most common cause of death worldwide. The aim of this systematic literature review is to investigate the association of loneliness and social isolation on the onset of CVD. This study is part of the EU-Horizon 2020 project RECETAS (no. 945095, recetasproject. eu).
