Inkontinenz-assoziierte Dermatitis im Alter - häufig übersehen

The prevalence of incontinence and incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) in older people is high. There is a huge interindividual variation in the susceptibility to develop IAD. Main external risk factors include older age, diarrhoea, and restricted mobility. Promotion of continence, reduction of cutaneous exposure to urine and stool, and skin protection are the key strategies toward prevention and treatment.
