Zusammenfassung

During the last couple of years it has been shown that transgenic plants are suitable host organisms for the production of recombinant mammalian proteins of therapeutic interest. Using transgenic tobacco plants as an experimental system we demonstrated that human lactoferrin, an iron-binding glycoprotein, is an interesting target molecule for this production system. Nonoptimized expression/extraction levels of up to 0.3% have so far been obtained.
