ULTRASOUND GUIDED PERCUTANEOUS DRAINAGE IN THE TREATMENT OF ABSCESS COLLECTIONS FORMED DURING ACUTE APPENDICITIS

Purpose: The traditional treatment of an abscess collection formed after perforation of appendix during acute appendicitis includes early appendectomy with debridment of the abscess cavity or the treatment with broad-spectrum intravenous antibiotics followed by elective interval appendectomy after 4–6 weeks.
