OPTIMIZED HYDROSONOGRAPHY IN INFLAMMATIONS AND NEOPLASMS OF COLON AND RECTUM

Purpose: Prospective evaluation of clinical utility of ultrasonography (US) combined with hydrosonography (HUS) for the evaluation of recto- colonic inflammations and neoplasm. Methods and Materials: 40 patients (17 females, 23 males) were examined. Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) was detected 24 patients and neoplasm in 16 patients. In all cases the US followed the clinical and endoscopic diagnosis. A solution of Macrogol 4 000 was used for complete cleaning of the bowel.
