Background and aims: The long term benefit of UDCA therapy in primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) is still controversial. Methods: In this retrospective study 230 patients with PBC were analyzed. Endpoints were death or orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT). Kaplan-Meier estimates were compared with predicted survival by Mayo model, and with expected survival of matched German controls. Cox proportional hazard regression analysis was performed to identify prognostic factors.
