Frequency, cytomorphological features and diagnostic significance of multinucleated cells in bronchoalveolar lavage

Multinucleted giant cell (MGC) in BAL occur in different lung pathologies and its role in pathogenesis of lung diseases is not complletely clear now. Sometimes MGC were as a cause of false-positive cytological reports because of its known connection with granulomatous diseases. The aim of the study was to evaluate all BAL fluid for presence of MGC, determinç its types and diagnostic significance.
