Introduction: Protein concentration of uPA and its inhibitor PAI-1 are prognostic factors in lymph-node negative breast cancer. Analysis of uPA and PAI-1 mRNA by quantitative real time PCR or array based nucleic acid detection platforms could be alternatives which use less tissue. Methods: The concentration of uPA and PAI-1 protein was measured by ELISA (American Diagnostica) in 151 tumor samples.
