7T phased array head coil for transmission and reception

Human MR systems with field strengths beyond 3T are attractive since higher field strengths promise high SNR and, therefore, enhanced temporal and spatial resolution. Especially 7T is evolving into the new standard above clinical routine field strengths. However, at such high field strengths new physical problems arise. Dielectric resonances result in inhomogeneous excitation profiles. MR sequences are strongly restricted by SAR limits.
