Purpose: To identify the lipid profile of the inhabitants with diabetes mellitus. Materials – methods: 12-hour fasting specimens from 432 diabetic patients (203 men and 229 women), aged from 35 to 82 years old, presented at the Microbiology Laboratory of the General Hospital of Goumenissa in the year's 2005–2006. Blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels were measured with enzyme chromatometric methods, using the TARGA 3000 biochemical analyzer (Menarini).
