Intraoperatory sonography of breast lesions marked with ultrasound visible clips on vacuum-assisted breast biopsy (VABB)

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to assess the possibility that surgeons evaluate lesions marked with ultrasound visible clips (Gel Mark- SenoRx Inc. Aliso Viejo, California-USA) after a VABB biopsy (Mammotome) directly in the operatory theatre with a portable ultrasound equipment. The ultrasound visibility of such clips depends on the presence of 11 small biodegradable cylinders that surround the traditional titanium clip.
