Zusammenfassung
The giant cadherin FAT1 is one of four vertebrate orthologues of the Drosophila tumor suppressor fat and is a regulator of the Hippo pathway. There are contrasting studies about the role of FAT1 in human cancers, pointing toward a dual role of FAT1 as both an oncogene as well as a tumor suppressor. The aim of this study was to analyze the expression and function of Fat1 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods and Results: FAT1 expression was increased in human HCC cell lines and tissues compared to primary human hepatocytes and non-tumorous liver tissue as assessed by qPCR and Western blot analysis.
