Incidence of AV fistula closure due to high output cardiac failure in kidney transplanted patients

Background: Some hemodialysis patients develop arteriovenous fistulas with high access flows. This volume overload can result in high output cardiac failure. To date closure of AV fistulas is reported only occasionally and predisposing access flow rates are unknown. In this study we will present a group of 29 patients with AV fistula closure or banding procedure after successful kidney transplantation.
