The Tecnis ZMA00 diffractive multifocal acrylic lens and the advantage of corneal spherical aberration correcting IOLs

Purpose: To demonstrate the advantage of multifocal IOLs, designed to compensate for the average spherical aberration of the cornea as the new Tecnis ZMA00 acrylic diffractive lens. Methods: The performance of different multifocal IOLs is studied in a model eye with a physiological cornea. The influence of pupil size is demonstrated by visualizing the light path and the retinal image in the different focal points of the projection of a US Air Force target in monochromatic green and in white light.
