Peripheral Vascular Malformations

A lot of confusion in the diagnosis and treatment of inborn vascular malformations is caused by the inappropriate use of different classifications and nomenclatures, especially syndrome names. Thus the ISSVA-classification, based on biological, clinical and histological features, is introduced in this lecture. Only hemangiomas can be properly named as hemangiomas, not vascular malformations. Diagnosis is based on anamnesis, clinical examination and imaging studies, mainly ultrasound, MRI and phlebography/angiography.
