Introduction: Glioblastoma multiforme still has a very poor prognosis even with today's multimodal therapy of resection followed by radio-chemotherapy with Temozolomide. Among numerous new antitumor compounds currently under investigation, the integrin inhibitor Cilengitide has reached phase II studies, e.g. the German pediatric glioblastoma relapse study CilMetro.
