Aim: Assessment the role of ultrasound examination in diagnosis of fatty liver infiltration in patients with metabolic syndrome. Patients and methods: 182 patients with metabolic syndrome (101 women,81 men), age between 43–81 years old, BMI=38±6.8kg/m2, no history of alcohol abuse, no viral liver diseases (negative for HBs Ag, HCV Ab), undertook clinical exam and lab tests. Abdominal imaging consisted in high-resolution ultrasound system ESAOTE MEGAS CVX/GPX, equipped with 3.5–7MHz transducers.
