IL-4 gene polymorphisms and lung tissue markers in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis

Background and objectives: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a serious fibrosing lung disease with unknown cause, although a cytokine imbalance is presumed to influence the course and outcome of the disease. Based on our previous results we have concentrated on evaluation of an influence of IL-4 gene polymorphisms on IPF histopathological and immunohistochemical findings from lung biopsies (Ashcroft score, PAR-2, TSLP, CD124, TGF-β and YY1).
